mysterium tremendum et fascinans

the obsidian jaguar rests her tiresome head on two broad paws. in her mouth hangs the leafy remnants of ayahuasca; she holds her mouth agape in the heat, the veiny tendrils and crushed, emerald particles lace through sharp, brilliant teeth. an absent minded sigh, and the large cat plops on her side and rolls over on to her back. two golden orbs peer upward, through the high canopies above, observing even farther the subtle rays of the sun. although the sun is not visible, its an omnipresent force in the sticky humidity of the jungle air.

the jaguar does not dare close her eyes. in the distance the sky plays a rainbow of colors, a glittering reminiscence of a starry world beyond the sun's bright gaze. thirty thousand light years away from the center of the galaxy, half way on its sprawling arm, the sun revolves around the galaxy's center among a society of other stars in a glittering, celestial dance. it takes 225 million years for the sun and her counterparts to complete the rotation around the galaxy's core.

the jaguar licks her lips, attempting to clear away the ayahuasca. time goes by.
