Hello Wolfies,

Recently, many have been having problems with rooms, having websockets load but fail to load character or chats. So here are some troubleshooting steps you can take before you contact Kodi (or any Wolfing Admin) to make sure it's the server side and not client side (yours).

Method One: Using the secure version of Wolfing
Please see the URL bar and verify if you are using SSL (https://wolfkodi.dyndns.org/wolfing/).
If you are using chrome for firefox, it should display a green padlock. If it isn't using SSL, feel free to click the link to access the SSL version of the website and try again, or replace http:// with https://
if this still doesn't solve your issue, don't worry, we have a few more methods.

Method Two: Clearing your Browser's Cache
Now, this may very between different browsers, but I will be putting steps for both Chrome and Firefox.

For Chrome: Open Chrome and open the additional settings in the toolbar (the 3 dots in the top right). Go down to 'More Tools' and select 'Clear Browsing Data'. Warning: Make sure *ONLY* to check 'Cached Images and Files' and/or 'Cookies and other site data' (selecting this will log you out of all sites!).

For Firefox: Open Firefox and open the additional settings in the toolbar (the 3 stacked lines in the top right) and choose option. Go to the advanced tab and then the Network tab. In there should be a title named 'Cached Web Content', click the button titled Clear now.

Method Three: Verify you are on the latest version of your Browser
For Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

For Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

Method Four: Uninstalling and reinstalling the browser
I know, we all hate having to uninstall and reinstall something, but sometimes, it is needed. I'm sure everyone here knows how to uninstall a program so, I will to go into detail on this. (note if you want, you can just install another Browser and verify it works there, if it does, then feel free to uninstall your current browser and reinstall it)

Method Five: Restart/Shutdown
Remember how it's a running joke to shut something off and turn it back on, well sometimes that's the only way

Anyways, these are all general steps to verify it is a server problem affecting Wolfing and not on your end. If you are still facing problems despite this, please contact any Wolfing Admin for additional help.

Thanks for reading Wolfies, hope this helps

I would also like to add that these following two steps are worth attempting:

1) Perform a hard refresh on your browser by holding down on the keys Ctrl+Shift+R for Windows and Linux and Cmd+Shift+R for Macs.

2) Use the incognito version of your web browser to see if it works on there, as browser extensions are disabled by default, and you can try to identify which browser extensions are casing the issue, it is worth it to check your browser extensions from time to time to make sure other programmes do not add any unwanted extensions on your behalf, to which you can either disable or remove.

On a side note, I'm planning to have the server enforce https soon, but before that happens, I would like to better handle embedded images that do not have a secure connection on the server they are hosted upon, such as indicating to the user that they will have to view the image externally because embedding insecure content on a secure webpage is a violation of web browser security protocol.
